Densified Kraft

The main characteristic of a densified kraft or dk is a hard, smooth, caliper controlled surface. This attribute is produced at the paper mill by a process called supercalendering. This is typically an off-line process in which the paper is run through a stack of alternating steel and fiber covered rollers which further compress the paper resulting an a very smooth, thin sheet.

An application such as roll label, which requires precision die cutting, would be a prime candidate for dk.
